But the recognition of Douro wines has a lot of work behind it. For many years, the region has been perfecting its techniques, but there is one date to highlight

The Douro Region is the oldest demarcated region in the world, dating back to 1756.

While Portugal was still a monarchy, in 1756, during the reign of King José I, the world's first institutional model for the organization of a wine region was defined by the initiative of the famous minister of the kingdom "Marquês de Pombal", through a territorial delimitation, many of whose landmarks still remain today, used at the time for the demarcation of the "Alto Douro Vineyards".

And it is in this demarcated region that the world-renowned "Port Wine" is produced.

The town of Pinhão is considered to be the heart of the Douro Wine Region. It is in this area that the strongest geomorphological characteristics (terrain, climate and sun exposure) make it possible to produce the best "Vintage" wines, which is considered to be the queen category of Port Wine.
